Congratulations to Our Instructor, Dr. Alicia Belcher!

Dr. Alicia Belcher, TEL’s instructor for College Algebra and Quantitative Analysis I, graduated with her PhD. Dr. Belcher was awarded the 2020 Dissertation Poster of the Year by Northcentral University. Her dissertation, “Perceptions of High School Mathematics Teachers on Situated Learning and Authentic Assessment: A Case Study” will be formally recognized at Northcentral University’s commencement ceremony later this month.

In her dissertation, Dr. Belcher studied the impact of situated learning and authentic assessment, or tying concepts to the real world, on the success of students in math.
