Chinese I

Chinese I provides basic communication skills in Modern Standard Chinese. This course is designed for students with little or no prior experience in the Chinese language but who are interested in learning the basics of Chinese language and culture. Throughout the course, students are expected to develop language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. However, the emphasis in this course will be on building students’ communicative competence. Students will be able to communicate verbally in Chinese within given situations. This is a three credit-hour course; satisfactory completion of the course requires passing a midterm and a final exam.
